Halloween!

It's almost Halloween. Friday October 26th will be the annual Fancy Dress Day in the school. All pupils (and staff!) can dress up in costume on the day. We will also be joined by storyteller Seosamh O'Maolalai who will visit all classes and engage the girls in some spooky ghost stories!!! This visit is co-funded by Poetry Ireland and the School Completion Programme.

It's Maths Week!

This week is Maths Week and we've all been taking part. First class took part in Maths Games and Maths Trails, while Junior Infants also took part in Maths Trails and worked as pattern detectives too! Senior Infants completed a Maths Trail around the school. All the girls really enjoyed Maths Week and you can go to the individual class pages to find out more about all that we've been up to. Why not visit our Numeracy Links page and check out the links to some fun and educational game sites.

Tree Day Walk

October 11th was Tree Day. It was also a very wet and windy day so we postponed our Tree Day Walk to Edenmore Park to Friday, October 12th. You can go to our Science Blog to see more pictures and read more about our trip.

Thank You Glanmore

At the end of September we invited John and Niall from Glanmore Foods to our school to say a special thank you. They supply our yummy school lunches every day and this year they presented us with two lovely Ladibug visualisers. We've put them to great use during our numeracy, literacy and SESE lessons and they're really useful when the girls want to share their artwork with the class. We don't know how we managed without them before! If you're a parent who would like to find out more about our school lunches you can visit the Glanmore site by clicking here.

Tree Day

This Thursday, October 11th is Tree Day. We'll be visiting our local park, Edenmore Park to learn more about the native trees of Dublin. Check back later in the week for new photos. In the meantime why not click here to visit the tree day website and take part in some of the activities.

Maths Week

This year Maths Week will run from October 13th to 21st and we're taking part in St. Monica's. We're looking forward to completing lots of maths trails around our school building and grounds. We'll be posting lots of photos and videos of our activities on our website. Click on the Maths Week logo below to go to the official website.

Top Attenders 2012

Congratulations to all the girls who achieved fantastic attendance during the year. A special "well-done" goes to Chloe Angulu, winner of the inaugural Ciaran Lynch Attendance Award. Chloe has missed no days during her 3 years as a pupil of St. Monica's. The award, sponsored by the Lynch family, commemorates our late chairperson Ciaran, who regularly presented awards at our monthly attendance assemblies and sadly passed away in April. Check out the photos of all our attendance award winners.
